Johnson Concrete Products Expands Footprint with Acquisition of RidgeRock Retaining Walls Production Facilities in Georgia and North Carolina
SALISBURY, NC, August 16, 2025 — Johnson Concrete Products, headquartered in Salisbury, NC, is proud to announce the acquisition of two RidgeRock Retaining Walls manufacturing sites located in Ellijay, Georgia and Statesville, North Carolina, effective August 16, 2025. Southern Concrete Materials, headquartered in Asheville, NC, has acquired the ready mix concrete plant that is also situated on the Ellijay site.
“This expansion is a key milestone for our company,” said Jody Wall, Executive Vice President of Johnson Concrete Products. “The addition of these two sites allows us to strengthen our presence in two fast-growing regions—the North Carolina mountains and the northern Atlanta metro. We’re committed to continuing RidgeRock production at both locations and are actively preparing for future CMU manufacturing as well.”
“RidgeRock is pleased to expand its partnership with Johnson Concrete,” added John Tysinger, President of RidgeRock. “This transaction facilitates the plants’ operation under the guidance of a reliable partner, while RidgeRock can concentrate on its core competencies of product development, estimation, and sales.”
Both sites will continue producing RidgeRock products, with plans to expand concrete masonry unit (CMU) manufacturing into both residential and commercial markets in the near future. Starling Johnson Kaklamanos, Vice President of Sales for Johnson Concrete Products, said “This acquisition gives us the ability to better serve customers in two important markets where we’ve seen strong demand for the products we make. We’re also in the permitting phase of building a new plant in Spartanburg, SC and are excited to bring our industry-leading quality, service, and technical expertise to new areas.”
These locations join Johnson Concrete’s established network of manufacturing facilities in Salisbury, Willow Spring, Concord, and Lexington, NC. With nearly 80 years of experience in the masonry and hardscape industries, Johnson Concrete Products continues to invest in regional manufacturing, product innovation, and industry initiatives. This acquisition reflects the company’s continued growth and its long-term commitment to the builders, contractors, architects, engineers, and communities it serves.
